17. Either the power inlet connector on the rear of the
apparatus or the power plug at the wall must remain
accessible, to be able to disconnect power from the
apparatus.

Performance Tabletop DAB Radio. If you own other Boston products, the outstanding audio performance
and ease-of-use of the Solo XT should come as no surprise. If you’re new to Boston, welcome -- we think
you’ve made a great choice. The Solo XT is a sophisticated DAB/FM radio with dual alarms, aux in and line/
headphone outputs, all in a high-style, soft-touch enclosure -- all the things “Play Smart.” So check out all the
features and functions of your new music system. We know you’ll enjoy it for years to come.

Basic Control Operations
Turning the Solo XT On or O
Press the POWER/VOLUME control on the center of the front
panel.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the front panel POWER/VOLUME knob.
Note: On the control illustrations –
Regular arrows indicate to press and release
the button or control.
Double headed arrows indicate to press and hold
the button or control.
Selecting Sources or Setup Functions
Use the MODE/INFO control to select the source you want to listen to or access the “DAB Setup” or “Setup
Options” menus.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to display the “Mode”
menu. Highlight the source you want to hear or the
setup menu you want to use.

Press the MODE/INFO control to select the highlighted
item.
Note: The “Setup Option” selection is not shown in the
initial display. Move the highlight box past the “DAB Setup”
selection to access “Setup Options” .

About the Setup Options Functions
When you select “Setup Options” from the “Mode” menu the “Setup Options” menu is displayed. Initially the
display shown below on the left appears. Turn the MODE/INFO control to move the highlight box. If you turn
the MODE/INFO control until the highlight box moves past the “Display” menu item, more menu items appear,
as shown in the display on the right.

function is highlighted for selection.
In this display the Audio control
function is highlighted for selection.
In the next section the procedure for setting the clock is described. Other Setup function are described in
later sections. Once you know how to set up one of the Mode functions the others will be easy.

DAB Radio
The DAB Station List
When you plug in the Solo XT for the  rst time it automatically searches the DAB radio bands for stations
and puts the available stations in a list. If you move the Solo XT to a new location you can use the DAB
Scan feature to reset the station list. You can also manually tune to the station list available on speci c DAB
multiplex bands. For more information see the “DAB Station Setup” on the following page.
Tuning in a DAB Station

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “DAB”. Press the
control

Turn the TUNE control to display the list of available
stations.

Highlight the station you want and press the TUNE
control to select it.
Notes:
Only stations that were put in your station list by the initial
automatic station scan, a scan you perform with the DAB Scan
function, or that you tune manually are displayed as you turn the TUNE control.
You can change the order in which the stations are displayed. See the “DAB Display” and “Display Menu”
sections on the following pages.
The DAB Display
When using the DAB radio the display shows a
variety of information. In the main part of the
display the  rst line is station name.
The second line of the display center shows one of the following:
Genre — Signal Quality (in %) — Compression — Network — Frequency — Date and Time.
You can set the default information you want to appear in this line. See the “Display Menu” section of this
manual. In addition you can change the information in the second line by pressing the MODE/INFO control.
Each press switches to the next information mode.
The  nal line will always be scrolling text information provided by broadcast station.

DAB Station Setup
If you move the Solo XT to a new location you can use the DAB Scan feature to reset the station list. You can
also manually select stations to add to the list.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “DAB Setup” . Press
the control.
Note: If the DAB radio source is selected you can simply
press the TUNE control to access the “DAB Setup” menu.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Full Scan”, “Quick
Scan” or “Manual Tune”. Press the control.
DAB Order: Active/Alphanum/Favorite/Multiplex – Active -
Displays active stations  rst. Alphanum(eric) - displays stations in
alphanumeric order. Favorite - displays stations most listened to
rst. Multiplex - displays stations in Multiplex order.
Full Scan: Searches all 64 frequencies in the Band III and L Band
groups.
Quick Scan: Searches only the most commonly used frequencies in Band III - from 10B (211.648 MHz) to 13B
(232.496 Mhz).
During the scanning processes the display shows the station multiplex as it is scanned.
Manual Tune: This option displays a list of all the DAB multiplexes. Turn
the MODE/INFO control to highlight the multiplex you want, then press the
control.

About Station Presets
The Solo XT has 20 station presets. The presets can be used to store either FM or DAB stations. Because of
the way the Solo XT places stations in the presets you may want to plan how you store them. Here’s how it
works. The  rst station you store goes into Preset 1. The second station goes into Preset 2 and so on, up to 20
stations. If you remove a preset all the stations in presets above the one you removed, drop down a preset
position. The table below gives an example.

It may be helpful to put the presets in some logical order. You could put the FM presets in order of ascending
frequency. For example put 89.70 into Preset 1, 90.95 into Preset 2, 93.70 into Preset 3, etc. Or you could
assign presets on the basis of how often you listen to them. For example, your favorite station could go into
Preset 1, the next favorite into preset 2, etc.

Sleep Function
You can set the Solo XT to play a radio station for up to 90 minutes. After the speci ed time the Solo XT shuts
o . You can use the Sleep Function with one of the radio sources or with the Aux input.

Use the MODE/INFO control to select the source you want. Set the volume level where you want it.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Setup Options”, then press the control. The “Setup Options”
menu appears in the display.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Sleep” then press the control. (The “Sleep” menu selection is
not on the initial “Setup Options” menu. Turn the MODE/INFO control until it appears. See the display
illustrations on page 6.) The highlight box around “O ” will  ash.

Turn the MODE/INFO or TUNE control clockwise to set the amount of
time delay you want. You can select from 5 to 90 minutes in 5 minute
increments. Press the control.
The display example to the right shows the Sleep delay set for 20 minutes.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Exit” and press the control. Or wait a few seconds and the
display will “time out” automatically.
The display will go to its default mode – either source or time display,
depending on what you have chosen. The “S” Sleep icon will appear at the
bottom center of the display.
This display example shows the “S” Sleep icon. The radio is tuned to 104.75, which is
Preset 10. The time is 10:40 PM and Alarm 2 is turned on.
To check the remaining sleep time, touch the metal trim ring. The display will show the amount of sleep time
remaining. Touching the metal trim ring again while the sleep time is displayed decreases the sleep time
to the next lower step – 20 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. Each additional touch decreases the sleep
time by 5 minutes.
Notes: To cancel the Sleep delay before it has  nished press the Power/Volume button to turn the Solo XT
o .
Audio Controls
Usually the Solo XT will sound best without any adjustments to the audio controls. But Bass and Treble
adjustments are available if you want to adjust the tone balance.

“Audio” menu selection is not on the initial “Setup Options” menu. Turn

page 6.) You’ll see the display shown to the right.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight either “Bass” or “Treble”. Press the
control. The highlight box around the setting number will  ash.

Turn the MODE/INFO or TUNE control to adjust the setting. Press the
control to set adjustment. Or wait a few seconds and the menu will “time
out” automatically setting the adjustment. In this example the Bass is set to –2
and the Treble is set to +1

Display Controls
The “Display Setup” menu lets you control what information is shown in the display and how it looks. The two
display examples below show the controls available.
To access the Display Setup menu:

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Setup Options”. Press the
control.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight “Display”. Press the control. (The
“Display” menu selection is not on the initial “Setup Options” menu. Turn
the MODE/INFO control until it appears. See the display illustrations on page 6.) You’ll see the display
shown to the right.

Turn the MODE/INFO control to highlight the display control you want to adjust then press the control.
Turn the MODE/INFO control until the highlight box moves past the Brightness menu selection to
access the controls in the second screen illustration.

Once the item you want adjust is selected, turn the TUNE or MODE/INFO control to change the setting,
then press the control.
The settings on the Display Setup menu are:
Display Info: Genre / Signal Quality (in %) / Compression / Network / Frequency / Date and Time
(Clock) – When using the DAB radio this setting determines what appears in the second line of the display.
(See “The DAB Display” on page 8.) When using the FM radio or the Aux input selecting all the settings except
for “Date and Time (Clock)” makes the display default to show the source. When “Date and Time (Clock)” is
selected the display defaults to the time display.
RDS: On/O – Turns the FM radio RDS (Radio Data System) display on or o .
Brightness: 1-20 – Sets the overall brightness level of the display. Set this so the display is easy to read in a
well lit room.
High Brightness (20) Low Brightness (1)
Note that the display brightness will always adjust automatically with changing light conditions. This
adjustment just sets the overall range of the display brightness.
Contrast: 1-20 – Adjust the di erence between the light and dark parts of the display. This should also be set
in a well lit room in conjunction with the adjustments to the Brightness setting.

Resetting To Factory Default
Should you want to return your Solo XT to its “out of the box” con guration, you can use the Factory Default
reset feature. This erases the DAB station list, clears the radio station presets, and returns all other menu
settings to there original state.
Warning: Do not use this feature unless you want to return the Solo XT to its original state. Before using this
feature you might want to make notes about how your radio is con gured.

Default” menu selection is not on the initial “Setup Options” menu. Turn

Press the control to return your Solo XT to the factory default state.
Connecting Other Equipment
Connecting Headphones
Connect the headphone plug to the 1/8-inch jack on the front panel. This turns o the Solo XT internal
speaker. If your headphones have the old-style large 1/4-inch plug you will need an adapter.
Using Aux Inputs
Other audio equipment, such as an iPod or a portable CD player, can be connected to the Solo XT through
the rear panel Aux input. You will need a cable with a stereo mini plug on both ends. Select the Aux input
using the MODE/INFO control as described in the “Selecting Sources or Setup Options Functions” section of
this manual.
Line Output
You can connect the Solo XT to another component using the 1/8-inch Line Output jack.
Security Cable Connection
There is a security cable connection point on the rear of the Solo XT, in the corner above the antenna
connector. This is the same as the connection point found on most laptop computers. Connect a computer
security cable between the Solo XT and a solid anchor point to help prevent theft of your Solo XT.
About Clock Memory
When power to the Solo XT is interrupted a special power component called a “super-cap” will keep the clock
functions active for a period of 24-48 hours. If the Solo XT is without power for a longer period of time you
may need to reset the clock when power is restored.

puerto de bajos provocará una pérdida de rendimiento.
Posición horizontal o vertical
El panel de control de la Solo XT puede rotar, lo que
permite utilizar la radio en posición horizontal o
vertical. Si desea cambiar la orientación de la radio
gire 90º el anillo que rodea el panel de control.

Conexión a la red eléctrica

Antena
La Horizon Solo XT viene con una antena extensible
conectada a una salida que se encuentra en el panel

Nota: Boston Acoustics ha hallado que cuando no se utiliza
la antena provista con el producto, la presencia de señales
fuertes puede interferir con el funcionamiento normal de la
radio.
Controles del panel delantero

Encender o apagar la Solo XT

Use el control MODE/INFO para seleccionar la fuente que desea escuchar o para acceder a los menús “DAB
Setup” o “Setup Options” (para programar emisoras DAB o para programar alguna función de la radio,
respectivamente).

Acerca de las funciones programables

Función de apagado automático (“Sleep”)
Puede programar la Solo XT para que suene hasta un máximo de 90 minutos y luego del tiempo especi cado se
apague automáticamente. El apagado automático se puede usar con una emisora de radio o con la entrada Aux.

Use el control MODE/INFO para seleccionar la fuente que desee. Programe el nivel de volumen que desee.

Gire el control MODE/INFO para seleccionar la opción “Setup Options” y luego presione el control. La

Gire el control MODE/INFO o TUNE en sentido horario para programar el
tiempo que desee. Puede programar entre 5 y 90 minutos, en incrementos
de 5 minutos. Presione el control.
La fi gura a la derecha ilustra la función de apagado automático programada
para 20 minutos.

Gire el control MODE/INFO para seleccionar la opción “Exit” y presione el control. O bien espere algunos
segundos y la pantalla saldrá del menú automáticamente.
La pantalla regresará a su visualización por defecto – ya sea mostrando la fuente
o la hora, dependiendo de la opción que haya elegido. En la parte media central
de la pantalla aparecerá el icono correspondiente a la función de apagado
automático “S”.
Este ejemplo muestra el icono “S”. La radio está sintonizada en 104.75, que en este
caso corresponde a la Memoria 10. Son las 10:40 PM y la Alarma 2 está activada.
Para ver cuánto tiempo falta para el apagado automático toque el borde metálico. La pantalla mostrará el
tiempo que falta. Si toca el borde metálico nuevamente mientras en la pantalla aparece el tiempo que falta
para el apagado automático, este tiempo disminuirá 5 minutos – 20 minutos, 15 minutos, 10 minutos, etc.
Cada vez que toca el borde el tiempo para el apagado automático disminuye 5 minutos.
Notas: Para cancelar la función de apagado automático antes que haya transcurrido el tiempo programado
presione el botón ENCENDIDO/VOLUMEN para apagar la Solo XT.
Controles del sonido
Generalmente la Solo XT sonará mejor si no realiza ningún ajuste a los controles del sonido. Sin embargo, si
desea regular el balance de tonos puede regular los Bajos (“Bass”) y los Agudos (“Treble”) .

À propos du réglage des paramètres des fonctions
Lorsque vous sélectionnez « Setup Options » à partir du menu « Mode », le menu de réglage des options

INFO pour déplacer la boîte en surbrillance. Si vous tournez la commande MODE/INFO jusqu’à ce que la boîte

Réglage d’une station RAN
Si vous déplacez le Solo XT à un nouvel endroit, vous pouvez utiliser la fonction de balayage des stations RAN
pour réinitialiser la liste de stations. Vous pouvez aussi sélectionner manuellement des stations pour les
ajouter à la liste.

Tourner la commande MODE/INFO pour mettre « DAB » en
surbrillance. Appuyer sur la commande.
Remarque : Si la source radio RAN est sélectionnée, vous
n’avez qu’à appuyer sur la commande TUNE pour accéder
au menu « Réglage RAN ».

Tourner la commande MODE/INFO pour mettre « Full Scan
» (balayage complet), « Quick Scan » (balayage rapide) ou
« Manual Tune » (syntonisation manuelle) en surbrillance.

Ordre RAN : Active/Alphanum/Favorite/Multiplex – Active -
a che en premier les stations actives. Alphanum(eric) - a che les
stations en ordre alphanumérique. Favorite - afa che en premier les
stations les plus écoutées. Multiplex - a che les stations en ordre Multiplex.
Full Scan : e ectue une recherche sur les 64 fréquences des bandes III et L.
Quick Scan : e ectue une recherche seulement parmi les fréquences les plus courantes de la bande III - de
10B (211,648 MHz) à 13B (232,496 MHz).
Durant les balayages, l’écran a che le multiplex de la station.
Manual Tune : syntonisation manuelle, cette option a che une liste de
tous les multiplexes RAN. Tourner la commande MODE/INFO pour mettre
en surbrillance le multiplexe que vous désirez et ensuite appuyer sur la
commande.

À propos des préréglages de station
Le Solo XT possède 20 préréglages de station. Les préréglages peuvent être utilisés pour les stations FM
ou RAN. Vous voudrez probablement plani er la façon de les mettre en mémoire à cause de la manière
dont le Solo XT gère les préréglages. Voici comment il fonctionne : la première station mise en mémoire est
assignée au préréglage 1. La deuxième station est attribuée au préréglage 2, et ainsi de suite pour les 20
stations. Si vous supprimez une station préréglée, toutes les stations suivant celle que vous avez supprimée,
descendront d’une position de préréglage. Le tableau ci-dessous illustre un exemple.

l’origine
Il peut être pratique de mettre en mémoire les préréglages en ordre logique. Vous pourriez mettre les
préréglages FM en ordre croissant de fréquence. Vous pourriez, par exemple, mettre 89.70 au préréglage 1,
90.95 au préréglage 2, 93.70 au préréglage 3, etc. Vous pouvez aussi les classer selon leur fréquence d’écoute.
Par exemple, votre station préférée pourrait être attribuée au préréglage 1, la suivante au préréglage 2, etc.

Mise en mémoire d’une station préréglée

Syntoniser la station FM ou RAN que vous désirez assigner à un
préréglage.

Appuyez sur la commande TUNE et maintenez-la enfoncée
pendant 3 secondes. L’indicateur de préréglage dans le coin
supérieur gauche de l’écran s’allumera indiquant que la station
a été mémorisée.
Dans l’exemple, la station FM 104,75 a été assignée au préréglage 1.
Syntonisation d’une station radio préréglée

Tourner la commande MODE/INFO pour mettre « Preset »
(préréglages) de l’écran en surbrillance.

Suppression d’un ou de plusieurs préréglages
Pour supprimer un préréglage, syntonisez la station préréglée tel qu’expliqué ci-dessus.
Appuyez sur la
commande TUNE et maintenez-la enfoncée jusqu’à ce que « Preset Cleared » (préréglage e acé) clignote à l’écran.
Si vous désirez e acer tous les préréglages pour les reprogrammer, appuyer et maintenir enfoncée la
commande TUNE pendant 10 secondes jusqu’à ce que « Presets Empty » (préréglages vides) s’a che à l’écran.
Fonctions du réveil
L’appareil Horizon Solo XT a deux réglages de réveil indépendant. Chacun peut avoir son propre genre
d’alarme — réveil au son du timbre, de la musique ou les deux. Les deux genres d’alarme commencent
à faible volume et augmentent graduellement. De plus, vous pouvez régler les alarmes pour qu’elles
fonctionnent tous les jours, seulement les jours de semaines ou seulement les jours de week-ends.
Réglage d’alarme

Appuyer sur le bouton Alarm1 ou Alarm2 et le maintenir enfoncé
pendant 1 seconde pour accéder à l’écran « Alarm Setup » (réglage
d’alarme) illustré ici.

Tourner la commande MODE/INFO pour mettre en surbrillance l’élément
que vous désirez régler, et ensuite appuyez sur la commande pour
le sélectionner. Par exemple, si vous mettez « Alarm Time » (heure de
l’alarme) en surbrillance et appuyez sur la commande, vous verrez un
second écran avec une boîte en surbrillance clignotante entourant
l’heure de l’alarme.

Rétablissement des paramètres par défaut
Si vous désirez rétablir les paramètres par défaut de votre Solo XT, vous pouvez utiliser la fonction de
réinitialisation. Cela e ace la liste des stations RAN, les stations préréglées et réinitialise tous les autres réglages
de menus aux paramètres par défaut.
Avertissement : Ne pas utiliser cette fonction à moins de vouloir réinitialiser votre Solo XT aux paramètres
d’origine. Il vaudrait mieux prendre quelques notes sur la con guration de votre appareil avant d’utiliser cette
fonction.

(paramètres par défaut) en surbrillance. (Le menu « Factory Default »

Branchement d’équipement
Branchement des écouteurs
Brancher la prise 3,2 mm (1/8 po) des écouteurs dans la prise du panneau avant. Cela désactive le haut-parleur
intégré du Solo XT. Si vos écouteurs ont une ancienne  che 6,5 mm (1/4 po), vous devrez utiliser un adaptateur.
Utilisation des prises auxiliaires
D’autres équipements audio, comme un iPod ou un lecteur de CD portatif, peuvent être branchés au Solo
XT par la prise auxiliaire du panneau arrière. Vous aurez besoin d’un câble avec une minuscule prise stéréo à
chaque extrémité. Sélectionner la prise auxiliaire en utilisant la commande MODE/INFO tel que décrit dans les
sections « Sélection d’une source » ou « Réglage des paramètres des fonctions » de ce guide.
Sortie de ligne
Vous pouvez brancher le Solo XT à un autre appareil en utilisant une prise de sortie de ligne de 3,2 mm (1/8 po).
Branchement d’un câble de sécurité
Dans le coin au dessus du connecteur d’antenne du Solo XT, il y a un point de connexion pour un câble
de sécurité. C’est le même point de connexion que l’on retrouve sur la plupart des ordinateurs portables.
Branchez un câble de sécurité d’ordinateur entre le Solo XT et un point d’ancrage solide pour éviter le vol de
votre Solo XT.
À propos de la mémoire de l’horloge
Lorsque l’alimentation électrique du Solo XT est interrompue, une composante spéciale appelée « super-cap »
conservera les fonctions actives pendant une période de 24 à 48 heures. Si le Solo XT demeure privé de courant
pendant une période plus longue, il vous faudra refaire les réglages de l’horloge lors du retour de l’électricité.
