GN 8000 MPA
Connecting GN 8000 MPA
1 Remove the handset cord from the telephone. Connect it to the back of the amplifier into the handset port. Connect the
short cord attached to the back of the amplifier to the telephone, in place of the handset. Connect the headset to the
coiled cord using the QD-connector. Insert the headset stand at the back of the amplifier.
Set-up
2 Lift the top cover and open the battery door on the right side of the amplifier.
3 Install the two AA batteries included with the amplifier.
4 Push the battery door firmly shut until it locks into place.
5 Set the headset/handset switch to headset position.
6 Set the mute switch to talk position.
7 Set the headset volume to mid range.
Checking the system
8 Put on the headset and remove the handset from the telephone. Move the system selector switch slowly through the
settings until you hear a clear dial tone.
Note: positions G, H, and I do not require batteries.
9 Place a call. Adjust the microphone volume control until the other party can hear you clearly. (1 is the softest, 8 is the
loudest)
10 Adjust the headset volume control by sliding the button until you can comfortably hear the other party. If your telephone
has a volume control, set it to the mid to low end of the range for optimum headset performance. To finish the call,
replace the handset in its cradle.
Answering and making calls
11 Put the headset on.
12 Set the headset/handset switch in headset position.
13 Set the mute switch to the talk position.
14 Lift the handset from the telephone to answer or place the call.
15 To end the call, replace the handset on the telephone.
Battery save switch
16 The battery save switch is designed to converse battery power by putting the amplifier into sleep mode when it is sitting
idle for more than two minutes. The circuit design allows the amplifier to awaken under several selectable conditions.
A Battery save feature is on. Amplifier is activated by the receive (incoming) audio.
B Battery save function is on. Amplifier is activated by the receive (incoming) or the transmit microphone) audio.
C Battery save feature is off. Amplifier runs continually. If using this setting, it is recommended that the headset/handset
switch is put in handset position when the headset is not in use in order to save the battery.
Note: A beeping noise in the headset indicates that the batteries are low. Replace both batteries using only AA size
batteries.
